Product Description
Product Description The 100% natural Merino Kids Baby Sleep Bag is the world's finest baby sleep sack. Its remarkable natural merino fabric and award-winning design help your baby to sleep safely through the night. Crafted from superfine allergy-safe merino wool, the Merino Kids baby sleep sack is luxuriously soft and light upon your baby's body. It fits babies safely up to two years and its quality workmanship guarantees years of wear. Merino fabric has the remarkable natural ability to regulate body temperature and this winter-weight sleep sack by Merino Kids keeps babies comfortably warm without overheating in cooler room temperatures from 59°F to 68°F. It captures and circulates air to insulate your baby when the room temperature falls, and releases excess body heat and moisture as the room temperature rises, to create the perfect safe micro-climate around their body. Your baby has the freedom to move naturally in their Merino Kids baby sleep sack but they cannot slip underneath, nor wriggle out and wake uncovered and cold, as can happen with blankets. Parents get a good night's sleep with the peace of mind that their baby won't get too cold or too hot and their baby's head won't get covered. Reduces SIDS risk factors: promotes back sleeping; sleeveless for better air circulation; fabric stays clear of baby's face; reduced risk of overheating due to merino's natural body temperature-regulating capability. The innovative safety belt aperture allows your baby to wear their sleep sack safely in the car or stroller, making it easy to transfer them asleep to and from their crib. 100% natural long staple cotton outer layer for extra durability. Contains no polyester. Opens up flat for easy dressing. Quality self-locking zipper unzips from the bottom for quick diaper changes. Free matching travel bag included. Machine washable. Can be tumble-dried. Naturally fire resistant. Baby boys and girls look equally stylish in designer red and blue Wild Poppy stripes.

2 out of 5 stars Should be called cotton, not merino   June 27, 2010
Kemyst (San Francisco, USA)
This sleeping bag turned out to be mostly cotton. The outer and waddling are all 100% cotton with an inner lining of relatively thin merino knit on the inside. The workmanship was extremely good with quality zips and domes. Given that it really is mostly cotton, it is very over priced.

You are charged $10 shipping, 15% restocking fee and you pay return shipping, so its not worth returning. Think carefully before buying!

I had heard of the benefits of merino but have never had any first hand experience with it until we bought this sleep sack for our daughter. We had used polyester and cotton sleep sacks before, but always found that they caused her to overheat and get sweaty if the temperature in our house wasn't perfect, (living on the East Coast, our houses are notoriously draughty and getting the temperature right can be tough).
I noticed a difference as soon as she had woken up from the first night of wearing it. She wasn't too hold or cold and was perfectly snug. As a big night time pee'er, it's not uncommon for me to find her sleep sack wet in the morning, and even though she peed through her diaper that first night, the inside of the sleep sack was bone dry. Somehow the fabric had wicked and moved away the pee from her body and through to the outside of the sleep sack. Amazing!
These sleep sacks are definitely not in the same price range as cheapo polyester and cotton sleep sacks, but in terms of features and benefits, there's no competition. If you want the best sleep sack for your child, look no further than Merino Kids.

5 out of 5 stars Safe and Warm   February 21, 2010

I got this for my baby daughter when she outgrew her newborn Halo sleep sack, and we have used it every night since since it arrived. It is soft, warm, easy to put on/take off, and it is large enough for her to wear for the next two years. It washes well (I use Woolite in the wash and put it in the dryer on low when I can't hang it outside). The sleep sack makes it compact for traveling. While I initially cringed at the expense, but it really is worth it considering how much time she spends sleeping! When my best friend has a baby, this is certainly one of the gifts she is going to get from me at the baby shower!

4 out of 5 stars Well-made, but wish it wasn't so expensive!   February 2, 2010

I did a lot of searching for something warm for my six-month old to sleep in, and finally settled on the Merino Wool Go-Go Bag. It keeps my little one warmer than the other ones I tried -- the "Back to Sleep" fleece sleep sack and a cotton quilted sleep sack (not sure of the brand). It was thinner and heavier than I expected, but my baby does not seem to mind. It also regulates heat better than the synthetic ones.

It is well made, and a good investment for someone plannng on having several children, as it will survive multiple babies.

My only complaint is that it's pretty expensive, and I have a large six-month old who will only get one season's use out of it before she out grows it.

5 out of 5 stars Superb quality that lasts, the best baby gift we received   January 8, 2009

We were given one of these Wild Poppy Merino Kids sleep sacks when we had our first child three years ago. He used it throughout his first two winters, and it was so good that we bought a standard merino sleep sack for the summer months and when he got taller around the age of 2 we moved him up to the toddler sleep sack (Merino Kids Toddler Sleep Bag, French Navy). The toddler sleep sack is just as good but bigger, and will last him another couple of years. He's in it every night, wouldn't be without it, especially when we travel. He sleeps in it in the car seat on road trips, and he wears it on aircraft when we fly.

The reason this Wild Poppy sleep sack is called 'winter-weight' is that it has an extra layer of insulation compared to the other Merino Kids baby sleep sacks. This keeps your baby warm if their bedroom gets cool. The guideline they give is below 65 degrees (18C). I think 68-72 degrees is what's recommended as the ideal temperature for a baby's bedroom, so if yours dips below that in cold weather, or if you have cold aircon, then this winter sleep sack is for you.

We still have our original Wild Poppy baby sleep sack, our daughter sleeps in it now during winter months, and we bought her a lovely Rose Hip (Merino Kids Baby Sleep Bag, Rose Hip) for the other seasons. Even after two years of hard use by our little boy, and now two winters with our little girl, the original Wild Poppy winter sleep sack is still going strong, and it will last as a hand me down to some of their cousins.

It's testament to the superb quality of these Merino Kids sleep sacks that they last so well, especially considering that a child spends probably more time asleep in a sleep sack than in any other item of clothing.
